The Age Calculator helps you determine the exact time difference between two dates. It calculates age or duration in years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds, giving you a comprehensive breakdown of the time span.

Age calculation methods can vary across cultures. This tool follows the standard international age system, where a person’s age increases by one on their birthday each year. For instance, someone who has lived for 3 years and 11 months is considered 3 years old and will turn 4 on their upcoming birthday. This method is widely used in Western countries.

In contrast, some cultures calculate age differently. For example, in traditional Chinese age systems, a person is considered 1 year old at birth, and everyone’s age increases at the Chinese New Year, not on their birthday. So, if a baby is born one day before the New Year, they may be considered 2 years old just two days later.

It’s also important to note that age calculations involving months and days can be slightly tricky—especially when the starting date falls at the end of a month. For example, the period from February 20 to March 20 is typically considered one month. But from February 28, 2022 to March 31, 2022, there are two interpretations:

  • One method sees Feb 28 to Mar 28 as one month, resulting in 1 month and 3 days.
  • Another method treats both Feb 28 and Mar 31 as month-end dates, resulting in exactly 1 month.

Both interpretations are logically valid due to the varying number of days in each month. This calculator uses the first method for consistency and clarity.
